Trimming milkweed (asclepias)?

My milkweed has grown very tall. It's doing well with continuous flowers, but I'd like to trim it back if possible. Could I trim it, or is that not advisable?

I don't see why not. It will just send out side shoots below where you made your cut....but this will keep it shorter for a while.

It will be a sticky sap project ! You can use rubbing alcohol to de-gun your pruners. Some people can be allergic to the sap, so maybe wear some gloves, just in case.

I just cut 'em back when they get leggy. They seem to be very forgiving. Four Seasons makes a good point about the sap.

Thanks, all. I noticed that sort of white sap when I cut back our Asiatic jasmine over the weekend. Good advice.
