Checkerboard table

I am planning on tuning our old coffee table into a game table and want to paint a traditional checkerboard on it. Rather than measuring and taping the whole think I thought maybe someone would have a source for a stencil. Any ideas?

Another way to do it would be to use a square stamp. You could make your own out of craft foam and wood or a piece of acrylic that you can see through would be better. It wouldn't be perfect, but pretty close.

I used a square sponge, then I strung up spray painted washers on the side of the table. The children played for years! In fact they still talk about mom's crazy game table!
