Making Tables Out Of Old Japanese Sticky Rice Boxes

I live in Japan and got my hands on a stack of old mochi (sticky rice) boxes. Yes!!
First I had to clean, sand and fix some of them.
These things are so cool!
I built two standalone tables out of plywood and pine wood, so I could just turn the boxes upside-down and slide them on. I only measured one of the boxes and figured they were all the same size, because that makes sense..right? I had to recut one of the tables, because they are totally not the same size.
That symbol was my wife's great grandparents "yago." A yago was a house name used way back just like in Game of Thrones. People used to be known for their yago and not their actual family name. Her family chose one character (the one on the box) out of their name for easier reading and identification for the town.

How nice and to be able to use one that is branded with your yago! I didn't know that there was a mochi box? Was it used to keep the gohan in it after it was pounded? (I'm of Japanese descent, and my great aunt had a mocha store in Japan in the 1950's before moving to Canada).
