Fireplace Remodel - Paint & Stain

Hello fireplace! Do you think it’s time to give your fireplace a little facelift? It’s amazing to find out what a little paint and stain can do. This fireplace update can be achieved with three different steps.
1 – Stain your mantel darker to get rid of the dated orange color.
2 – Spray paint the brass with Rust-Oleum Hi Heat Black Spray Paint.
3 – Water down a mixture of your wall and trim paint to white wash the bricks.

I'm echoing Ashley's question - what paint/stain product did you use, what brush type, did you dilute it? How long did you leave it on? How did you apply / take it off? Looks great! Thanks!

I recently did this to my FP brick. I used an off white chalk paint diluted 2:1 with water (2 pts water, 1 part paint). Brush on, dab off with cloth if too much coverage. Can use any white/off white paint, but I think a flat or matte is best. Very quick, easy and huge transformation. Can do thinner like a 3:1 or thicker as in 50/50 depending on coverage wanted...but have cloth handy to rub off in case it goes on heavier than you want. I didn't leave it any time at all...just brush on, lightly wipe off if desired...can repeat if wanting more coverage. Oh, and on brush type...I just used a good paint brush.
