Cord Decor Lighting!

by Bryan's Workshop
This is my cord decor lighting and I love it! I wanted to create unique lighting for this corner in my house that looked industrial and antique. I think I nailed it!
I first wired three sockets on long cords into my ceiling.

You can also wire a socket to a plug or buy one and run your light out of the outlet.

*Please be cautious with electricity!
I built a wood box and stained it to match the tables. The box covers the wire housing.
The earliest wiring system in the US was knobs and tubes. I wanted to simulate that and luckily I was able to find ceramic knobs at an electrical parts shops.

I live in Japan and do not know where to find wire knobs outside of Japan. You should be able to find them online or at an antique/junk shop. You can also use drawer knobs or something similar that you can wrap cord around.
My wife loves it!

I see how you used the knobs to turn "corners" on the ceiling, but what did you use for the final "drop" from the ceiling? Is it some sort of hook or other hardware?

what did you use to secure the wires to the tubes? or is it just pulled really tight?

I think you're trying to trick me! :) There is a working 1927 Singer in that table! If you're ever in Japan, drop by and we can sew stuff. These lights were fun to make! Thank you very much for your nice and funny comment!

Could you do this under kitch cabinets or somehow bring the lighting down under a painting. Can you use glass light covers as well? Thoughts?

Hello Jackie! The cabinets sound very doable! You can definitely add light covers too, just as long as the weight of them are supported so the wiring doesn't get pulled out. I'm not sure what you mean about bringing the lights under a painting. Will they be on the wall or hanging?
