Popular Elephant Rug - Crochet DIY

I saw this elephant rug while I was searching around Facebook. I immediately went and bought the pattern not knowing that it takes 9-12 skeins of yarn and working three strands of yarn at the same time. It used a bigger crochet hook than I'm used to but I got the hang of it rather quickly and took off. It was a fun project and something different from the regular blankets I normally crochet.
Measuring eyes to make sure they are straight and just in the right place. This was tough and nerve wracking especially when you are a perfectionist LOL. i measured once and measured again. I kept measuring until my back was hurting. But I finally got them in the right place and sewed them in with the long tail of yarn that I saved on the eyes. the little white twinkle adds the final touch. I especially love the oversized pink bow. Such a cute Elephant Rug!
Here is the view of the ear - the puff stitches add dimension and make the elephant rug look so pretty! I upped the contrast a little so that you could see the details of the stitches. It mainly uses a double crochet so there are really no fancy stitches. It just looks fancy :)
Finished finally :) it took 9 skeins of yarn to make the Elephant Rug. It's so popular right now. I sold this one within a few minutes of posting it on my Facebook page. I love the way it came out. I have since made a few of them in a lighter grey color and it's fabulous. If you like to crochet, this is a perfect project for you.

Angie; I love this rug but I don't crochet well. WWondering iif you would make one for me and what price would it be? My late husband adored elephants (used to train them for Ringing Bros.) and since he died on my bathroom floor (heart attack one year ago) I'd love to turn that space into a HAPPY TRIBUTE TO HIM if possible. Would you be willing? Thanks Marti
