We have replaced our weathered gate as it became a little warped and didn't fit well anymore. The gate is nice and don't want to pitch it. Any ideas how we can re purpose it?

Make it focal point in your garden with assorted colorful plants.

How about using it as wall art in the house. Hang it outdoors and add some hooks and hang garden tools from it or hang some small flower pots and fill with maybe some herbs.

Use old fence pieces to make a planter boxes on it and grow flowers or herbs in it. Use the old fence posts too to stand it up. Depending on what you plant may need to be shaded or may be able to withstand direst sun light. Have fun with it! Uncle used chalk to liven up his fence with a flower vine that will wash off in the rain.

Spray paint it a colour you love most and hang it on your fence and then grow a lovely creeper plant over it or add a small window type box at the base of it and grow smaller annual flowers

That's a lovely idea! Summer is winding down here in Colorado, but will certainly think along those lines in the Spring. Thanks!

There are plenty of plants that work well summer or winter or if you are using a creeper you can incorporate two .... one that flowers best spring / summer and another in winter. I am however saying that not knowing your winter conditions.... e.g. maybe you are snowed in. We are just looking forward to spring with bulbs just starting to push their way through the soil .... we had a mild winter but it hit all in one burst last week. Some districts are cut off but not where I live. We have only had snow once for 3 days. Exciting on day one - not impressed day two - passed it day three. Ha Ha.....

I know this one is not wood but your gate could be used for the same principal check out this idea from another website http://indulgy.com/post/zNr4YwNMA3/clever-use...

Paint an angel on it, decorate as you wish, then hang or stand it in your garden. My fence gate has an angel with large open wings and just the merest body and face.

Use it as a trellis to grow a flowering vine.
