I have this ground cover growing in a mini outdoor garden

It is in a shady, moist, well-drained location. It is perfect for my little garden. I didn't plant it, though, and would like to know what it is. It survived last winter with no problems. If you can identify it I would be appreciative. Ken Sloop, Lewisville, NC
I put a ruler on the plants to give you an idea of its size.

Have you noticed any flowering? I agree with William creeping charlie. Word of caution it will take over.

If the stem is square, it is probably 'creeping charlie' -- a highly invasive relative of the mint family that is toxic to horses. Do NOT let this get in your yard!

Thanks for the help. I haven't noticed any flowering, but after doing some research on Creeping Charlie I'm pretty sure that that is what I have. Sounds like I had better kill it immediately.

You don't have to kill per say ,just keep it where you like it if that is possible.

If it only spreads by creeping then it would be easy to contain. If it spreads by seeds blowing then it could be a major problem.

Its a very invasive vine. It creeps along the ground and shoots tendrils into the ground wherever it goes. You can try to pull it out but then you find the main plant can be several feet away. I have to deal with it every year. I found that Spectracide Weed & Feed is the only weed killer that works. One year it took over 2/3 of my backyard lawn. I only had small patches of lawn left. I thought I lost my lawn to it. I attacked it with a vengeance. Trying everything available, I found Spectracide worked. Got my lawn back and have it under control. Its so strong, hard to get completely rid of it.
