Waterproof wooden furniture

I have just screened in a portion of my carport to create a lanai and have several wooden indoor pieces that I would like to place outside. Is there anything I can coat them with to protect them from the elements. Would like to paint some bright colors.

any exterior rated paint would be fine. as long as the furniture is not getting actually "rained on" they should hold up fairly well.
