Stools and Stools and Stools

On a trip into town I stopped at the Salvation Army Furniture Store and picked up a few things,a dresser, potty chair and 3 stools to be exact.
I have not started on the dresser or potty chair as of yet,but did do all the stools.
And here they are.
This first one was $10,and done in a dark stain as you can see.

Some of the stain was worn through from usage,so I figured a quick sand and a paint would do the trick.

Luckily, the woven seat pops out,so it was simple enough.

I used that 80 grit paper again,so I could flatten out any dings in the wood, which there were many, went back over it with the 120,then did the whole thing in black and replaced the top.
Here she is after sanding................................
...............and here she is finished I moved on to the next one, which was only $5 and a total mess.

Five layers of paint before I hit wood.

I thought I had a photo of it,but no dice,sorry.

The top layer was red,so I will let you work it out in your heads.

I sanded it back as I do with everything I get, then gave it a base paint of grey,as I intended it to be a dark blue.

After the grey was on,I really liked it,so decided it would stay that way.

I thought about how to finish it off and came up with polka dots.

Now,I by no means have a steady hand, and templates over here are costly,so came up with the idea of using different sized cookie cutters, and doing a dry brush technique, which worked out pretty well.
Three coats later................................
Here are the cookie cutters.
I did an overlay design and made up some pink and burgandy paint.
I kept going round the stool with my dots, until I thought it looked good.
I finished it off by using a paint pen to go around a portion of the big circles as my hand was a bit unsteady and I had some line issues.

I did this to sorta hide my mistakes.

I then took a whit paint pen and made a whole bunch of small dots to be a fill in.

It could be better, but I think it's not too bad.

Paid $5 ,and have $20 on it.
The final stool was this little guy,all wood bottom and damn it.....presswood top.

I really hate that.

Make it all outta wood or don't bother.....for crying out loud.

He got the same strip down as the others and was done in a tan.

Kinda boring, but sometimes boring is okay.
