Chalk Paint Mason Jar Planters

I've used mason jars for all different kinds of crafts, like this fun and easy mason jar lamp, and when I wanted to make some small planters to perk up my kitchen window, I used them again.

This time I chose small jars and a couple of fun chalk paints and spent a few hours creating these easy planters.

All I did was paint each jar with a different color chalk paint. To get the subtle look I was going for, I mixed equal parts white chalk paint with the colored chalk paint.

A couple of coats and a bit of drying time, and they were ready for a sprinkle of potting soil and plants. I used wheatgrass but you could plant succulents or herbs.

Once they were planted, it seemed like something was missing so I decided to add a small tag to each jar.
Some jute twine, craft store tags, a few wooden butterflies and flower stickers and my DIY tags were done.

Just what my planters needed.

I love how the look on my windowsill.

And I can change them for the seasons. Paint them a different color, plant seasonal plants or just change the tags.

You have solved the problem for me! Just this morning, my step daughter asked why I saved jars. I told her that there were hundreds of reasons, besides canning and you just saved mine! Thank you
