I'm a sucker for old windows and when I stumbled across one at a garage sale, I knew I had to have it. Here's how I turned an old window into a custom painted sign that I love! A sweet young gal was selling this old window that she used as a seating chart for her wedding for a buck!
A sweet young gal was selling this old window that she used as a seating chart for her wedding for a buck! I snatched it up right away and took it home. I removed her writing using fingernail polish remover.
I found a saying that would work in the space where I wanted to hang the window. I played around with fonts and sizes until I found my favorites and printed them out. I taped the paper template to the back of the glass and went over each letter with a paint pen.
It was difficult with the glass between the paper and the pen, but once I found the 'sweet spot,' my eyes stopped crossing long enough to complete the work.
A printer and a paint pen was all it took! It hung beautifully over my mantel in our old house and just look how it looks now in our new 'Almost Farmhouse'!
Do you have any old windows laying around? Create your own hand painted sign using printer paper and a paint pen!
