Changing Table to Rolling Beverage Cart!

I bought this changing table with the idea to repurpose it to a bar cart.... I thought this changing table was unique to begin with so it was perfect for what I wanted!
to start this project, I painted the entire thing with Florence, by Annie Sloan.
I didn't give it full coverage... I wanted some of the wood to show through. It resembled a coppery color so I wanted to see it through the paint.
Next, I wanted to use Modern Masters Rust fx kit but I didn't know what it would look like so I wanted to try it out on a smaller section... i picked the front drawer. All the orange and black you see is the kit. The process took a while and i didn't want the orangey look all over my piece so I didn't use it anywhere else….
I took my Florence paint... added some reds, oranges, yellows, blacks (acrylics) and unicorn SPiT... started hand painting details
I downloaded some photos of rust, patina, verdigris so I had something to go off of while I painted. I created spots of rust... with the surrounding patina…
I added casters... this part was easy.. I just measured the amount of space I had on the underside and ordered casters with bases that would fit...screwed them in - now it's mobile!
I added the lighter green and blues for the patina/verdigris look - I knew I wanted the "old" look to be throughout. I also added copper wax to the some of the raised details...
I added new hardware I found at Hobby Lobby... I did add some black wax to those as well to make them look a little dirtier. They were too white looking for the piece originally.
The top of the bar I really struggled with. I wanted to do something to compliment the look - I thought maybe some black fabric but that just didnt look right. I found this wrapping paper at my local Homegoods so I decided to use that. It looked vintage"y" so I decoupaged it on. I painted on it as well to tie it in. I added a top layer of modge podge to it to "help" with water resistant.. although I do let others know it is not water resistant.... they should use a plastic mat of some sort for protection.
My neighbor helped me build a custom wine rack that I could attach to the bottom... I painted it and attached with 3 screws. I sealed everything with a wipe on poly... except the drawer... that had a special sealer for the rust fx.
The final product! I am really happy with the way she turned out. It's my Mobile Piece of Art. Check out my facebook page for more inspiration! https://www.facebook.com/TFRLisa/
