One Paint Three Looks

1 Material
As a repurposer I love giving pieces new life. I love to work with the piece letting its individual charm and characteristics shine through. Using one oops paint and a few other materials I ended up with 3 looks that still blend well together.
Starting with a current piece that had great texture but lacked color I decided to layer paint, giving an aged look like it had been left out to oxidize for years.
I started with the base teal oops paint that will carry through all projects in this post. Just dry brushing here and there, letting the original Terra cotta look show through
Next a touch of yellow,
then some light dry brushing of white,
and finally a touch of Modern Masters gold metallic paint.
The final look is an aged copper appearance that brings out all the beautiful detail.
Next up, just a touch of dry brushing of the teal and gold onto a modern mirror, again allowing the original color to show through. Dry brushing is just a touch of paint on your brush dragged across the surface, catching grooves, high places and leaving an uneven appearance that gives a whole new look with very little effort.
Finally a vintage table had a red orange finish, I decided to paint right over it and distress the teal to allow the original color to contrast and add pop.
I often use the imperfections of a piece to give texture, old chips and drips can actually add to the distressing process, rather then sanding and prepping, I highlight them.
The result- one color, three different looks that all work together for a home decor pop of color, texture and whimsy.
