Rustic Garden Signs Give Your Garden Direction...

It's a lot of fun to paint some signs in your garden; they can range from somewhat serious parking signs (Frog Parking; all others will be Toad) to silly and outrageous. There are few gardens that couldn't find some kind of funny saying appropriate and fitting.
If you're wanting to make your own, for paint, I have the best success with the most economical option; acrylic craft paint from the dollar store. This is amazingly tough, if the sign board you use is prepared properly, ie: sanded a bit.
I have a carpenter in the family, so I have him trained to bring me little cut off ends of lumber from his projects, but you can use almost anything; small pieces of plywood (put twigs around the outsides to hide the edges), barnboard, pallet wood and so on.
Here are a few signs that have caught my eye, and I've collected them all together in one place.

After double knee surgery, I put a sign up that said: 'The hardest thing to raise in my garden is my knees.'
