DIY OLYMPIC RINGTOSS GAME
Our family is buzzing with anticipation about the upcoming Olympic Games. Big boy is presenting a news item on the Olympics in a couple of weeks at school, which he is very excited about. To prepare, we made this super-simple DIY Olympic Ringtoss Game from old plastic picnic plates.
We talked about which continents the rings represent and the concept around why the rings are interlocked. After our discussion and simple colouring and cutting activity, we used our Olympic rings for a fun game of ringtoss.
This is a simple craft which my boys absolutely loved – it’s great for hand-eye coordination as well as fine motor skills.
The game involves standing at a pre-determined point and then taking turns to throw the rings at the tube, to try and hook them through the centre of the plate. There are so many simple and important lesson with this one, including turn-taking skills, general knowledge as well as counting, scoring and colour identification.
