What's For Dinner?

2 Materials
I made this sweet little chalkboard menu from a $10 chalkboard board and an antique wash stand top. It was a super easy project and will help keep the week organized...well, at least for dinner. :)
I no longer have to answer the question, "What's for dinner?" in my house, except for my 4 year old...he's still illiterate. I never saw the draw of a menu board in the past and didn't think I would ever create one. Then my son turned 14 and "What's for dinner?" became a big deal in our house. I'm sure you understand if you have or have had a teenage boy.
I started with this wash stand top I picked up at a local shop for a song. Last year it held our Christmas stockings, since we don't have a fireplace here in Florida. After its big Christmas debut it just hung around, literally, waiting for its next big shining moment. Today is her big day.
She has some sweet details that are highlighted by a little chalk paint and a light hand of sanding. I went to my local home improvement store and bought the chalkboard board already finished. The nice man at the store even cut it to size for me. I'm so happy to see we have come so far as a society. We no longer actually have to paint the chalkboard paint.
To say this project was super easy would be putting it mildly. Anyone could accomplish this project. I simply used some small nails to attach the chalkboard and the project was done. I placed some of my fav oyster plates above it to give it just a little bit of coastal character. You can see it all and other great projects over at my blog, Slightly Coastal.
