Blacking out a bedroom

Question

What is an easy way to black out a bedroom? I have block out curtains but the light still comes through the sides and at the top.  Any help is appreciated.  Mary

try putting up cardboard to cover the windows using duck or painters tape.. get a big enough piece that will cover the whole window you can decor the out side by painting it or covering it with a cheap piece fabric.

We hung two or three blackout curtains at each window.  That worked for us.

Hang you block out curtains higher and extend them wider - this should solve your problem and would look like your window is bigger

Make an inexpensive corniche and take sides down to the floor - lots of instructions on pinterest and utube -

For the sides, I used a 1- 2' strip of velcro, of course put the other piece on the seam of the curtain. During the day, I tie them back w/ribbon.

Another option would be to try for larger curtains that go past both the sides and run the height of the wall. This will not along assist with blocking light, but will look nice decoratively (if that is of importance).

Add heavy, dark fabric overlay curtains to the sides, decorative and lush while helping to block the light - and a valance to the top so light doesn't sneak up through the top of the curtains.
