The $25 Sofa

$200
3 Days
Medium
Hoping to find an inexpensive sofa for my daughter's tiny, new apartment, I searched the internet and finally found a French Provincial sofa on Craigslist for $25. Surely I could repaint this awesome find and turn it into a gorgeous piece of furniture.
When I arrived to pick it up, I discovered it had been stored outdoors, under a tarp. It was soaked, filthy, stinky, and mildewed.... but I had to have it.

This is the photo listed on Craigslist.
This is what it looked like when it arrived at my house. I took off he wet cushions only to discover it was soaked through to the frame.
I removed all of the fabric, foam, cotton batting, and about a thousand staples and finally got to the frame. The only thing left was the wood frame and metal springs.

Yes, It is sitting in my living room; it was too cold in my garage and I did not want to take a chance of getting the new fabric dirty.
I sanded and stained the frame; covered with new burlap; added batting, finished covering the arms, and padded the edge-roll.
This is the results of Saturday's work. Fabric and finish fabric covering the bottom and front frame/edge-roll.
I worked on the cushions all day Sunday and was able to finish the majority Monday afternoon after work (adding back cushioning and trim).

I still have some tweaking to do on the cushions but I am very please with my very first upholstery job.

I have listed 3 days of work as it took me a few hours to clean the frame; one day to cover, and one day for cushions. I think the whole project will take about 3 days total (1 Saturday, 1 Sunday, and a few hours after work each day).
