Thrift Store Upcycle: Wine Rack End Table

Julie Briggs
by Julie Briggs
I've been collecting stackable wine racks from the thrift store for about 6 months, and I finally came up with a good project for them. The stack of wine racks looked a little boring all by itself, so I decided to build a faux wine crate and turn them into a new end table for my living room.
I picked up 10 of these racks, paying about $5 for every 2 or 3 pieces:
I spray painted them all the same color.
I built a "wine crate" using free pallets for the sides and a couple pieces of pine for the top and bottom.
I added casters to make it easy to move around.
I wanted it to look authentic, so I tried out a new image transfer method.
If you ignore the fact that I made this project TWICE, it actually came out pretty good!
The total cost came in at a little over $50, and my new addition looks great in the living room. It's a great space saver and you could steal the same idea for any low or stackable wine rack you might have around.

I don't drink wine, but I do need storage for my bath towels and this looks like just the thing! I even have the corks and vase to put them in. Now to make it to a thrift store!
