Making a Christmas tree from pine cones

In my childhood I always saw my friends granny make a Christmas tree from dried pine cones. I still scratch my head to make it. Please someone help who has at least an idea how to make it. I want it for myself badly. I just luv these flowers....

I used a styrofoam cone & started at the bottom. Hot glue the bottom of the pine cone to the styrofoam all around & then just worked my way around to the top, ending with one glued to the top. I then go back & glue eucalyptus leaves or red berries in gaps between some of the pine cones. You can decorate any way you'd like. Some people even spray paint the pine cones first. Have Fun! :~)

I paint the pinecone green or white but you can paint them any color you like. Then I like to dap a bit of glue here and there and sprinkle glitter on those spots, make sure the glue is totally dry. Next (optional) spray the pinecone with sealer and let dry. When dry I glue little rhinestones on each petal. Attach a thread to the top of the pinecone if you want to hang it. Your done!

Make sure you wash your cones before using them. I like to soak mine in bleach to make them white. Then when my tree is finished, I spray with glitter.

I don't buy my pinecones I pick mine up from outside and that's why I wash mine first. Bleaching them is my favorite way to use them and I also like to mix them with natural colored cones. It's all a matter of preference.

You can slow bake pinecones for about 1hr or until they start to open at 200 degrees. Check after 20 minutes, it depends on the time of year you pick them. It kills any bugs, brings out the sap and they will shine afterwards. Make sure you line your pan with parchment paper.

Chicken wire tied in a cone and hot glue bottoms of cones in the openings. That's how Grandma did it.

That is how my mother did 40 yrs ago. Do you have directions using chicken wire? I’ve looked all over and can’t find anyone using chicken wire. Help😊

Use a cone shaped styrofoam form. Hot glue cones on it & decorate as desired.

I like to watch them open as some open before others. Love the smell.

If you use a Wire base or Chopsticks like a teepee........there are voids between the cones from the inside of the tree that make it very easy to poke a small set of lights inside = even more festive!

My mom used to spray paint them green, or silver or gold and then hot glue small beads to all the little branches...

My son took one pine cone right side up, filled with wax (smells good from candle wax) and pushed a second cone down into the wax. Tall tree to decorate, add as many smaller cones upward with wax to hold, see the beauty. Paint with poster paint or acrylic. Tip end of each scale on the cone white or silver. Decorate red and green small bells and lights. NRS

I melt left over candles, dip pine cones in melted wax, take out and place on newspaper so wax dries hard again, place in basket near fireplace and use them for fire starters. Clear bag them, tie with holiday ribbon for gifts.

Look on Pinterest, you'll find what you're looking for. I think Carolynn is on the right track but I'd probably hot glue them cuz I'm lazy.....
