Metal Pumpkin Yard Sculpture

Create this super easy pumpkin from corrugated metal. You just need a small sheet of corrugated metal, cheap pair of scissors, and spray paint!

Just an ugly scrap piece of corrugated metal I found behind the shed.

Using a marker, draw a large oval onto the metal. The size will depend on how large you want your pumpkin to be. Mine is about 28 inches wide and 20 inches tall. For the leaves, you can freehand it or trace around real leaves from the yard. Maple leaves work well.

I tried using snips to cut the metal but found that a cheap pair of scissors (like from the dollar store) worked great and made a smoother cut.

Once your pumpkin is cut out, spray paint the body of it with a nice orange. Now, here's the trick to add depth to the look of the pumpkin. Take a cardboard scrap, cut a curved edge on one side. Starting at the stem area of your pumpkin, place the cardboard over 1/4 of the pumpkin and lightly spray with black paint. Do this 2 times, moving from outside toward the center. Then, flip your cardboard and do the same to the other side. That way you should have 2 curves facing left and 2 curves facing right.

Spray paint the leaves green and glue to the stem area.

That's it! You're done!
