What can I do with this basket?

Need ideas on what to do with this basket. I have had it for years. Just don't know what to do with it.

Hi, it's a great basket! I personally would be tempted to spray it white, add a cushion to the top. Add some pretty lining and hey presto a gorgeous sewing box !

I would spray it for outside use and put displays for every season in it, on the front porch. I would have it full of dried corn and gourds on a bale of hay with tall corn stalks and bright leaves. Oh, a vintage thermos, plaid blanket and a lantern in there somewhere too. Then change it up for Christmas, Spring ect. Very nice basket.

Great basket! Try filling it with extra toilet paper rolls, soap, body wash, lotion, etc and placing it on the floor next to the sink or toilet in your guest bathroom (or yours). You could also place it under a coffee table or next to a sofa filled with books, magazines, deck of cards or other small games.

I too think it's a great basket. How about using it for a center piece. Fill with fake flowers etc. And change them with the seasons. Or, use it for a craft basket. Sewing or yarn work.

Mine a little different, but I painted it white, added a few embellishments and use it to store small items like tea lights and small candle holders.

I have an old one that belonged to my aunt. I covered the inside of the sewing basket with leftover scrap fabric and sewed pockets on the inside, along with covering cardboard with the same fabric to make compartments. I also made a pin cushion for the inside top and added my name. For the outside, I added a coat of varnish and added a new clasp. It turned out very well.

Sewing basket. I have a square one made to carry two pies. I don't use it for anything else. Yours looks the same good quality. Carry other foods to potluck so....there are all kinds of uses!

Magazine holder - keeps then in one place & looks tidy when guests arrive or pop a plant in it - indoor or outdoor. Use it to collect your recycling before putting in it the outdoor bin(s)

I have one that is much smaller but......I took an old quilt and cut it the same shape as the top, padded it some, added an antique looking lace around the edges, hot glued it to the top, I keep mine in a guest bath to hold extra toilet tissue. One this size could be used anywhere in the house for many things. puzzle books , simple toys for children of guest that drop by, many uses

I would mount on the wal in kitchen or bath where storage is needed . Turn basket so lid is below the basket and use small shelf mounts to hold in place now you have a place for anything that you use in those rooms handles will hold small hand towels or dish towels. This could also be used in a child room for stuffed animals or books

Put a liner of strong plastic in the bottom area--tuck under on top & glue to wicker upper edges--put 2 or 3 plants in soil & the top lid you could lean it against the wall & paint it or put fake leaf accent attached to the lid--arranged nicely....

Mount it on a wall beside a sink. One handle will hang down to hold a hand towel and the inside can be used to store clean towels. I did this in my laundry/mud room and it works great. You may need to add a small latch to your basket top to hold it closed. I noticed that your basket does not appear to have one.

Paint the basket with white chalk paint and add a wooden tag or name plate with twine or wire. Or you could stain your favorite color and the by enough coordinating fabric , batting or foam to cover the top and a pretty trim for the tops edge. Spray glue to adhere the batting or foam to top and cut loose edges. Cover with fabric down to the edge and using hot glue-glue on your trim. Fill your basket with animal toys-sewing supplies or whatever you fancy. Just a few ideas

I use my picnic basket as storage in my kitchen for my cookbooks and loose recipes. I had recipes scattered all over the place after I clipped them. Now I have a place to put them as soon as I clip them.

If you have a guest room, filling it with colourful washclothes, towels, and new soap bars, even shampoo for the guest..eliminates all questions of where to, or what to use for a week ender, single or couple..they will feel totally welcome .... and will not get mixed up with homeowners stuff...this can be a project where you add to it bit by bit when you find quality on a dime...it happens...and often does not fit in with the current bathroom scheme so it is passed up....but this way, it is a win win...Roz

Another idea, for a his or her baby shower...paint basket to fit decor of mom to be baby room...and commence to fill it with all things small...are necessary but fiddly - saves a dresser drawer...can pick up and take with baby to another room or a short trip...people will be eyeing your ingenuity..this is only possible because this basket is unique - IT HAS A LID - the contents will change with the age of the wee one...perhaps to eventually collect favourite soft toys, wee books, dollars or trucks...Roz

What a lovely basket I would paint it white and put plants inside keeping them in pots don't forget to line the basket with plastic. Always can be used for storage. Or if all else fails sell it at a yard sale. I bet someone could use it for a fund raiser raffle filling it with some goodies.

I used to have one beside my chair in the living room. I kept my magazines in it. Like so many of the suggestions, you can paint it or decorate it to your liking and to go with your home. I use mine now to store my watercolor and acrylic painting supplies.

I have one similar but without the lid. At Christmas I fill it full of fake greenery, Christmas bulbs and wind pretty little lights through it. Looks so cheerful by the front door as you enter the house or at the end of a hallway.

You could line it with plastic and use it as a planter for herbs. Lavender would look gorgeous, along with any trailing vine.

Yes use it for every holiday. Can top be removed? Make it a center piece or place on porch on table to greet guests. Don't get rid of it. If nothing else place in bathroom to hold extra TP.

It looks like it's in great condition. Do anything EXCEPT ruin it with plants and water. All of the storage ideas were good.

Glue some round balls on bottom of for legs line with a pretty fabric and add pockets alone side for storage. Use for sewing basket or household tools. decorate top
