DIY Rustic Wood Arrows

Hi there! I've been wanting to make some type of wood wall art for awhile now, but couldn't figure out what. After looking at endless ideas, I finally decided I wanted something very simple, just some type of arrow. I shared what I wanted with my wonderful husband and he helped me create these simple DIY rustic wood arrows. The best part about them is that the size can easily be changed to fit your space!
First, you need to set the saw to a 45-degree angle. To make your first cut, all you need to do is cut the end off your piece. Here we are just creating the first angle, and will measure in the next step.
You can now start measuring your pieces. You measure from the long point of the one angle, to where you want your short point on the next angle. Your measurement is going to be 10" from long point to short point.

After measuring and making your cut, you should have a piece that looks like the one below. You are going to continue this process so that you have a total of 6 of the same pieces.
Once you finish cutting your pieces, you can rough them up to look more rustic, if you like. Then you can glue your pieces together. We used parchment paper underneath the wood to prevent the glue from sticking. I wouldn't skip this step...I thought it was unnecessary until realizing how strong the glue is.

After the glue has dried for a few hours, you can sand your arrows using 240 grit sandpaper. When you're done sanding, you can stain them!
After the stain has dried for at least a few hours, you can give them a coat of white paint. Once that is fully dried you can sand them to your liking to distress them. Again sanding with 240 grit sandpaper.
After distressing the wood we did one more coat of stain overtop. Finally you are done, and can add picture hangers to the back so that you can hang them on the wall! For complete instructions on this project please visit Elegance &Peonies
