I enjoy using wood landscape edging to make holiday crafts. One of the first things I ever created was a wooden pumpkin. This is a very quick and easy craft that can be made in no time at all and if you make more than one you will have your own pumpkin patch.
I enjoy using wood landscape edging to make holiday crafts. One of the first things I ever created was a wooden pumpkin. This is a very quick and easy craft that can be made in no time at all
The first thing to do is to drill a hole in the top of the landscape edging.
The next step is to do a wash over the landscape edging using orange craft paint. Let the finish of the landscape edging come through. This gives it the rustic look.
Using black craft paint, you can paint pumpkin faces on the edging for a Halloween decoration. What I do is turn the faces to the wall for a fall look and come October have the pumpkin faces on display.
Once you paint on the face it is time to decorate the top. This is the fun part. Gather up twigs from the yard. I use whatever silk leaves I have on hand and glue them in the drilled hole. You can use hot glue or wood glue. It depends on what material you use to decorate the top.
For this pumpkin, I inserted the leaves and unraveled rope and glued in the twig. And I didn't paint the pumpkin face on it.
For the Halloween pumpkin, I glued in the twig and then glued Spanish moss on the top. You can also use little pieces of wood or straw. Any rustic looking material will work. Any combination will work.
