An Early Fall Mantel & Coconut Oil Treatment on Vintage Wood

When I wanted to use some vintage wooden kitchen utensils in my fall mantel, so I decided to try a Pinterest idea and put coconut oil on the pieces. It brought out a wonderful wood grain and a matte shine. More photos and details on my blog.

Is this a method that you can use on any wood? I have an antique highchair that has not had any care for over 80 years. I just want to bring back some moisture to the wood but not change the patina. I also would like to be able to use it occasionally but not have grease marks left on the babies clothes .

Just please be careful on products that you’re going to be using for food. There are people who are allergic to coconut who could react from the oil on the tools.
