What's a natural way to spray the yard to get rid of insects?

I was going to suggest the same thing! It really works! Even if you leave out the garlic it still works. I need to spray to get rid of snails and they hate hot pepper juice!

What are you trying to keep them from? Flying around and bothering you, or chewing your plants? If flying insects are a problem, I urge you to spray YOURSELF with an insect repellant. Widespread insecticide use kills millions of GOOD insects, so a more environmentally friendly approach is to make yourself less attractive to them. If it's insects bothering your plants, you first need to determine WHAT the insect is. Then go to this page: https://ask.extension.org/ask and ask about controlling that particular insect. What works for one, may not work for another. Cooperative Extension nationwide has trained people on hand to give you answers based on RESEARCH, not on old wives' tales. They also have the information on hand that will help you find the LEAST toxic way to control insects. The notion that you want to eliminate insects from your yard is really unrealistic, so you need to focus on narrowing down exactly what it is that you're trying to eliminate.

I have used diatomaceous earth with success in the buildings and the dog kennel. That may help to a degree. Or I have used lemon juice and menthol in a hose end sprayer to ward them off.

Sprinkle cinnamon in the path of ants. They hate it but it'll make you house smell nice 😀

Crinkle newsprint into a brown paper bag to puff it out. Tie a string to close the top and hang in tree or at corner of house to ward off bees. They will think it is a nest and stay away.

Diatomaceous earth is one of the best ways to get rid of a variety of critters. While I have not tried it, I have also heard that grits are another method. I have also sprayed apple cider vinegar with garlic and water mixed together. I don't remember the ratio, but it was about 2 cloves of garlic mashed with about a cup or two of vinegar and maybe 1/2 gallon of water. Going organic/natural most likely will not have as immediate or strong affect as the commercial chemicals but it is better for you and for the environment.

I don't want to eliminate any good insects from the earth, just the fleas, mosquitoes, snails, ants and any nasty critters who want to eat me, my plants and my family. Hot pepper spray doesn't affect bees, butterflies or birds when it is sprayed in dark places, the ground and low, under plants.
