Try Natures miracle available in pet stores or White vinegar mixed with water spray and leave on over night. The next day place paper towel on top with a heavy object to pull the water to the top. Once dry put baking soda on and again leave on overnight. Then vacuum.

Try coffee grounds and let them sit on the carpet all day or overnight...then vacuum up...but pet urine will penetrate the padding and into the floor boards...if it does that, pull up the carpeting and the padding and polyurethane the floor boards...and put down flooring,it's much better with pets...

It never comes out because it penetrates the padding too. Pull it up and put down flooring instead - better with pets.

You could try baking soda and let it sit for a few days then vacuum it up. If that doesn't work I would use white vinegar. I would pour it on, use about 1/2 of a cup. Let sit for 30-60 minutes. Then use a carpet shampooer and shampoo the area. I would then put a fan in the area or on the spot to help dry it faster. You could also try frebreeze. But try the white vinegar, I use it for lots of odors in our house and I have yet to be disappointed. You may have to do it 2 or 3 times, with drying between each time. But it should get it out. We had kittens in our house and they made a few mistakes, before they got the hang of the litter box. The house reeked!! After a few times the odor was gone. Good luck!

There are products specially made for pet urine. I use Clorox urine remover for stains & odors. It also works on a mattress from human accidents. Check small spot on carpet first. I haven't had any discoloration on mine.I rescue cats so we sometimes have accidents.

Use I used to buy an expensive enzyme product from my pet supply store; then I discovered peroxide and was just as pleased with the results. Let the liquid soak in, then blot it up, followed by using a carpet cleaning machine filled with plain water or water with vinegar added (that helps to leave a nice, fresh scent.) Try this method in an inconspicuous place, like a closet, first, just to be sure it won't remove any color from your carpet. It's important to remove all of whatever you put down with a carpet cleaning machine so that you can remove the source of the stain.
  • If it is a one time accident, then try a product or peroxide (be careful with it because it can bleach carpet). Hire a professional. but if the dog has been using the spot over and over I can tell you that there is no product going to rid the odor or the damage! I had a neighbor who rented out their home to dog people whose dogs used the front of a door as their potty and when they moved out he had to replace the rotting subfloor! Pet urine destroys.

Use a mix of 1 part plain white vinegar to 2 parts water. Soak the area so that it goes all the way down to the sub floor, really work it down in. Once your sure you have hit the bottom soak excess up with a clean towel and let dry. You will smell the vinegar for a few days but after it dries the urine smell is gone to our noses as well as dogs/cats.

The baking soda idea is the easiest way. Worked for me.

Hi there, so sorry to hear that. It's a common problem. Mix ¼ cup of baking soda with 1 cup water, 1/3 cup distilled white vinegar, and about 1/4 cup of mild dish soap. Put the solution in a spray bottle a mix thoroughly before spraying it on the stain. Rub it in lightly with a clean cloth and let it stand for about 20 minutes. Rinse the solution away with a damp cloth and let it dry thoroughly. Be sure to test the mixture first on a spot to make sure it won’t discolor or damage your carpets.

Either Nature's Miracle or baking soda will work, my concern would be that it soaked into the padding. You could pull up some peed on spots and check.

  • I use Zep's products for pet stains which work really well. The urine one takes the scent right out.

Hi Dje: I use a product called Odormute, and you can get it online at Chewy and I think Walmart sells it, too. Https://Odormute.com It's an enzyme eater, which you need to get rid of the urine smell. It is non-toxic and you can even use it on your pet and clothes. I have used it for years with wonderful results.
