Modpodge Soap Dispenser and Toothbrush Holder

Easy
Each month, my friends and I participate in the Monthly DIY Challenge. We pick a theme or item and each come up with our own creative idea. This month's challenge was Modpodge! I decided to make my own unique bathroom accessories for my son's new nautical bathroom makeover! We had trouble finding the perfect decor to suit the space, so decorating my own soap dispenser and toothbrush holder was the perfect solution! Learn how to make your own bathroom accessories!
I started with some plain white ceramic bathroom accessories (looking for this exact set? Click the link to my site at the bottom of this post for the complete materials list!). I gave them a good cleaning with some rubbing alcohol to remove any fingerprints or residue.
Next, I bought (affiliate) these cute nautical prints and printed them on regular computer paper to the appropriate size. I cut them out and used a sponge brush to adhere them to the ceramic with Modpodge.
I hid the edges of the print by adding some twine with glue.
This was such an easy project and fit our bathroom decor needs perfectly! If you can't find accessories you love, why not make your own!!! You can find more detailed instructions, photos, and a full materials list on my website.

Would it be possible to laminate your artwork then run it through a zyron machine, which adds an adhesive, then stick it to brush holder? It would make it more waterproof and easier to clean.

I don't know if I'm doing something wrong, but whenever I use Modpodge, the finish never seems to dry completely (even over weeks). It just always seems a little tacky to touch. Also, a number of years ago, I did some boxes. I had let them dry forr a week or so , but when I out the lids on, they seemed almost glued shut. It was very hard to get the lid off. I was just watching another DIY, that person used gel medium from an art store - I've never heard of it.
