Creepy Halloween Wreath With Snakes

As Indiana Jones and my mother can tell you, there's nothing scarier than snakes. So when I was trying to come up with an idea for a Halloween wreath, they seemed like the obvious choice. We do big decorating for Halloween: one year our whole dining room turned into Miss Havisham's wedding feast from Great Expectations. Another year we went with an Edgar Allan Poe "The Raven" theme and made use of a lot of free printables we found online. But somehow we'd never had a Halloween wreath before.
I started with a Styrofoam wreath form from the craft store and wound some black ribbon around it, pinning it into place with floral pins.
Then I took a whole mess of snakes from the dollar store and painted them gold. This was the trickiest part, because the Rustoleum paint I used never really stopped being tacky. I ended up going over it with a spray sealant. I've had better luck with Krylon spray paint for rubber, but I think your best bet is really hand painting with acrylic paint (time consuming though that is). Then I arranged the snakes how I wanted them and pinned them down to the wreath with the floral pins.
