I'm always swapping handbags, and in last minute panic pick the things I need, toss them into the new handbag, and leave about half a ton of stuff in the last one... and when I need some of that leftover stuff, I have to dive into fifteen bags to find it again...
So, I wanted to make the transition from handbag to handbag easier, and I saw all these cute purse organizers online, and I thought: Well I could certainly sew something similar! While watching some sewing videos on youtube, I was salvaging zippers and metal parts from old smaller purses that I was throwing away, and it hit me: I can use the base of one of these smaller purses to make an organizer for my bigger everyday handbags!
So I took this sad old purse, cut off everything I could use for later projects...
...and made sure it would fit into my everyday handbag...
...and cut it down to the size I wanted it...
I used some polkadot piping around the top, pinned it in place, trimmed off the hard corners as I couldn't sew through them..
...and sewed it on...
I figured out how many compartments I needed, for my sunglasses, keys, makeup, notepad & pen, kalendar, emergency pack(with band aids, painkillers, sanitary wipes and such...) and found a cool piece of fabric and measured out the length of the insert, and to make the pockets and dividers a bit firmer I put some padding in:
...and sewed some straight lines in even rows on it, and this is how it looked like before mounting...
I chose to use the same piping around these strips as on the purse. And so I simply sewed one such strip on each outer side, and made as many pockets as my stuff required:
And I also sewed one strip inside to divide the big compartment...
I even ended up with more pockets than I need, so all my receipts which normally just lives a life on their own(and I suspect them of multiplying on their own as well!!!) all over my purse, can now have a "home"...
...and it all fits easily in my handbag, and I can switch in a hurry, never leaving anything behind ever again!!!

Now THAT is awesome! I do the exact same thing when changing purses, then can't find things I need and often go buy duplicates. Then I find myself going on a scavenger hunt by dragging out my purses just to see what I find. ☺️ I applaude your creativity and your sewing skills! Wish I had that creativity, Way to go!! 👍🏻
