Halloween Candy Corn Serving Tray

We love candy corn around here. Every year my kids ask if it's time to find it in the stores yet as soon as the weather starts to cool. I'm not the biggest fan of how it tastes, I can only eat a few, but I think it's just the cutest little candy! I always see fun Candy Corn decorations, but I've been hesitant to use it myself because we have awful sneaky little sugar ants if any kind of food gets left out. They always find it. I would be so sad if I put in all that effort on a cute candy corn decoration only to have the darn ants eat it!
This was my solution!
Using some real candy corn, a wood tray, some paint, glue and pourable epoxy I made a fun candy corn Halloween serving tray. The best part is that it will last forever!
First you need to paint and seal your wood tray.
After the paint and sealer are dry, use a white glue to attach the candy corn to the bottom of the tray. I put them in a line pattern, filling the entire bottom of the tray.

When the white glue is dry, mix your epoxy according to the package instructions. Each brand varies a little bit, so you will want to make sure you follow their instructions completely.

I used 10 oz of the resin, and 10 oz of the hardener making 20 oz of the pourable epoxy to completely cover the bottom of my tray and all of the candy corn.
You can use a small blow torch, a heat gun, or your warm breath to pop any bubbles that come to the surface. I just gently blew on them as they came up to make them pop. Any bubbles that are left in the resin when it cures will be there forever.

I love this. Does the tray have to be wood? I like the black paint for Halloween but what is the glaze for? Could you use clear glaze to make it shine. Thanks.
