Foam sponge brush will give you pretty much streak free coat or a fine 4-6"china bristle brush if you know how to paint. You would usually bush straight in one direction then go back lightly in the opposite to get a smooth finish. Either way, it is the control you use of the brush . I always tell my students, the brush is the extension of your hand so lock your hand and wrist, rock your elbow or shoulder to control the brush stroke.

Spray is always the way to go for a professional look. You can rent a paint sprayer, they are fairly easy to use with a little practice.

A foam roller is the easiest, fastest, and cheapest way to go. A brush for any details. A sprayer would get the best finish, but there is a learning curve. You would also have to isolate and tape off anything you don't want painted. Consider any over spray.

If you don't want brush lines, spray is better, but practice with the sprayer first on something else so that you don't have to sand and redo!

I would not use a sprayer as it is very messy.Use a foam roller.

Being afraid to use a sprayer, I had very good results with a foam roller followed by lightly brushing with a goodqu ality brush. Primed the doors first, same procedure.

I used paint specifically made for cabinets. I used a roller for the big parts and a brush for the smaller. No brush strokes show.

Hi Randy, hope this helps you out. Ideally, spray painting cabinets is the most sought after method today. The quality of finish you get from using a spray gun is second to none, and it's by far a faster and more efficient method.
