I had a project that I was doing but was battling to draw perfect large circles and could not find big enough plates and objects to draw around. So this was the solution.
Workshop Compass
I cut 2 strips of scrap wood 45cm in length x 2cm width (This can be any size you want) and drilled a hole in the tops of both and added the screw, a washer between the 2 pieces of wood and screwed it all together with a wing nut.
DIY workshop compass
I cut the head of a large nail and drilled I hole in the bottom of one and hammered in the nail
And on the other side I taped a marker pen, a pencil can be used if you want. And now I can draw perfect circles every time.
Suggested materials:
  • Scrap wood
  • Wing nut and bolt
  • Marker pen and nail

As a Woodworker, I did this years ago and use it to this day. Great share!
    • I am still a beginner at this, but think I will be using mine for years. The others on the internet are to fiddly for me.
