Like Oprah, I eat bread - every day. I have a wonderful organic artisan bakery, and I wanted a thank you gift to show them my appreciation. When I rescued this nice clean mailbox bells went off. This would be perfect.
Followers of my blog know I love repurposing mailboxes of all sizes and shapes.

Our previous federal government had implemented a policy of ending house-to-house rural mail delivery and replacing with community mailboxes. As a result, rural roads were lined with abandoned, rusted old mailboxes.
For step-by-step photos of how I transformed this roadside rescue into an adorable breadbox, check out

There are plenty more repurposed mailbox projects, too.
Suggested materials:
  • Galvanized metal mailbox   (curbside)
  • Paint   (recycling depot)
