A Quick "BEFORE and AFTER" Photo Shoot

We all see these little "one-sies" at thrift stores, garages sales and sometimes even on the curb. Alone they don't say much but as part of a set, they sort of up their worth :-)
Take a peek at how this plain but sturdy chair and a mirror get a new appreciation together.
BEFORE: Of no great 'heritage' but sturdy, this is what I started with. A very ordinary finish and rather worn and faded fabric seat.
AFTER: Painted with linen white then dry brushed with pale pink it started to look a little more 'up-town'. When the cute high heeled shoes fabric was added, it got a look worthy of a little girl's room...or a big girl who loves pink :-)
Distressing lightly only in places that would naturally get wear, added a little bit of history. This was painted with Rustoleum's "Chalked" paint in Linen White and then the same paint was used with a little pink added in for dry brushing. NOTE: Though I was happy with the verrrry smooth finish of the chair, Rustoleum's "Chalked" paint is NOT chalk paint --- it is acrylic-- and it was a little more difficult to work with than ASCP or DIY chalk paint.
The fabric has a little glitter on the shoes...but it thankfully doesn't wear off. Here you can see the light distressing and the dry brushed finish.
BEFORE: The chair needed a little accompaniment to become part of a cute set. This was another garage sale find and although pretty, I saw it as a perfect companion, with a new look, to the more simple lined chair. At 24" x 36" , it'll be a nice size in any room. More furniture awaiting their redo's reflected in the background. ;-)
AFTER: Using the same paints as on the chair, this mirror now gets a different look and works nicely as part of a 'set' with the chair.
And here you have it: "The Sweet Duet". The nice thing about painting a piece is that if you don't like it or tire of it, you can paint over it again for a whole new look. :-D
