Could you possibly attach a window box to the slats by punching holes along the top of the box and use cord or strong rope to tie it to the top board? I'm really wondering why you picked this piece to use for plants!!

Looks like line up some pots, or add board to back and front, close off bottom so that drainage space is left. Put some smaller rocks, gravel, pebbles, marbles in bottom then fill with potting soil and plants. You may be able to hang from a tree using wire; don't attach too tightly to limb and cushion wire with some form of rubber. Paint wire and box to lessen wood rot and rust. Maybe some shade or part sunny plants, vines, etc. Not sure of real name but my uncle called it David's coat, mostly redish leaves in vine form. Not sure it likes cold, he brought it in during winter(VA).

you could try some info on vertical gardening . It wouldn't be very tall but the concept could work.

My though would be to turn it on its back. You could use some type of wire from one end to the other to help with any stabilzation you might need. Would give you more room for the pots to sit in. I like the idea above of hanging it in a tree kinda like a child's swing

Paint it dark, hang it on a wall, tallest way - set a small pot of vines & train vines up the stakes and maybe some to spill over the bottom. Offset from wall it would give a modern look.

I agree that turning it so that the long side of the triangles is on the bottom. Small herb pots with saucers could line up in the kitchen, and you could tie cords to hang it in a window or on a wall.Perhaps lining it with a piece of plexiglass or those flexible cutting boards (cut with scissors) in white/almost clear could protect the wood and keep debris from falling down...?

I thought of making or buying pockets for planting vertically. Good luck

Hang it the long way, maybe a small flower pot with ivy or some type of vine

Without knowing the size, I'd say the pair of long slats are the feet/base/shelf. Saucers under pots would have to span them (short ends of triangles could be attached to a wall if it was to be a shelf.
