Aunt Hilda on Sep 29, 2013It's a cosmos. If you'd like to grow them to look like whimsical flowering evergreens, plant the seeds into some Miracle Gro Garden Soil, and a cinder block. Water with about a cup of water a couple of times a day. Last year I grew two monster Cosmos with stalks that were thicker than 2 inches.Helpful Reply

Jay B on Sep 29, 2013My favorite - cosmos. Because of their reseeding habit, you never have to replant them. Check out the sides of highways with beautification projects using wildflowers...they can be seen for miles on the NY expressway.Helpful Reply

Aunt Hilda on Sep 29, 2013I've yet to have failure using Miracle Gro Garden Soil. If you are space challenged, Cosmos can be grown in containers. In one of my planting ares, I removed the sod, layed down about an inch of the soil, planted the seeds, covered with a little soil, watered them in, and Mother Nature did the rest for the most part. Treat Cosmos like weeds, they are THRIVERS AND SURVIVORS! LOL Have a good one, and GOOD LUCK!Helpful Reply
