'Spooky' & 'Ghost' Halloween Pillow Cover Tutorial

Halloween is right around the corner! But that doesn’t mean you can’t squeeze in one more decor project… These little pillows pair so well together and are pretty easy to throw together! And I love how you can use them year after year. That’s my kind of holiday craft! So let’s get right into the tutorial!
First I just gathered up everything I needed for this project. You can find a detailed supply list as well as a free download for the templates over on my blog! (Link is found at the bottom of this post)
After you cut your template out on some vinyl, you can transfer it over to a 14x14 inch piece of plain canvas fabric. I just make sure to press it down really well so I get nice crisp lines when I paint!
Use a spouncer to gently dab fabric paint over your template. Its' really important that you just dab is on and don't use any strokes. That will potentially cause the paint to bleed under your template.
Once the paint is dry you can remove the template! What I love about using canvas is the fact that it's really forgiving. If some of the paint ends up where you don't want it, you can either scratch it away or use some tweezers to lightly pull it off the canvas.
Now you can sew the pillow covers together! Check out my 'Happy Fall Y'all' pillow post for a detailed tutorial on my method of sewing a pillow cover. For the 'spooky' pillow, I used a pom-pom ribbon around the edge.
For the 'ghost' pillow, I made some yarn pom-poms to sew into place on the corners after sewing the cover together.
And that's it!
Decorating with pillow covers is really nice because they are easy to store, and add so much to a room with very little effort.
I love how these turned out and will look forward to using them each year!

Be sure to head over to my blog post for more detailed information on how I made these little pillows, and to snag your free SVG cut file download so you can make a pair of your own!
