It's really not necessary to spend a lot of money to get your home ready for the most wonderful time of the year. Here is how make your own recycled book page tree.
Grab an old book that's ready for recycle, roll the pages into paper cones and secure with glue.
Grab an old paper towel, toilet tissue (you can glue them end-on-end), wrapping paper tube or etc in the desired height and glue the first cone to the tree so that the open end sits flush on a table. This will help the tree to stand on its own. Then complete a row all the way around the tube.
Continue adding rows of paper cones to the tube (making sure that each new row rises about the previous) until you reach the top of your tube.
When you reach the top of the tube, you can glue the tails in the inside of the tube to secure.
To finish your tree glue a bow, ornament or etc to the top to create a tree topper and you are all set.

With a paper back book, you can make a tree by folding each corner down to make the top triangle. The spine of the book will bend back as you fold each page around to make the tree. You can fold a small triangle up from the bottom corner to meet the big triangle. These can also be spray painted green, or whatever.
