Restoring gold plated faucets

My faucets in the bathroom are discolored, is there anything I can do to bring them back to their original gold shine, etc., other than replacing them.

If you can remove taps and spray with a gold paint and a couple of layers of spray varnish this is quick and easy to do. Alternatively cover and tape off surrounding area to ensure no paint gets on sink etc and do as above.
