Custom Dark Stained Farm Table

Blue Roof Cabin
by Blue Roof Cabin
Sometimes it is hard to find just the right shade of stain. I refinished this table for a friend and she wanted a very dark almost black stain. I mixed Minwax Ebony and Dark Walnut stains to form the perfect color that she had in mind.
Sid cracks me up.
the original orangy finish was stripped and the table was sanded smooth.
I applied two coats of my custom stain and sealed with wax.

My table is an off white and the chairs are the same color. I have been wanting to paint it black for a long time. The top of the table I want to leave alone as it has wood slates on it and is finished in a high shine. I don't know what kind of paint to use. The chairs have some kind of coating on them that makes them look a little shiny. I want to use something that doesn't need a lot of prep work as I have a 91 year old mother that lives with me and likes sitting at the table all the time. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

Looks great!! Have you ever tried stain by General Finishes? I have used the gel stain in Java. Another dark stain that goes on so good, I will not use any other!! I love the table and chairs!! I am getting ready to redo my dining room set, and still trying to decide whether to paint, or stain the chairs!!
