Any suggestions for an alternative to replace missing doors on kitchen base units? One is a corner unit and the other is a single unit. Many thanks.

European and Latin American tradition is to use a curtain/fabric piece possibly on a spring rod.

Wow, Billy, did you get a sherriff badge in the cracker jacks box too?

I do not know about Euro or LA, but in the South of USA, we use curtain fabrics, too! I to was thinking this. Thanks Johnchip for helping me to agree! If no curtain rod, use some string and heavy duty tacks. Can just fold a piece of fabric over the string in half. If know sewing machine is available. DIY some wood pieces if you have the tools and wood. Not that hard to do. Hope some of this will help kick in the creative side.

I'm European and never heard of this tradition, but I agree with using fabric.

Great tip, Johnchip . Another way to go until Catherine decides on something more permanent.

Not sue where you live but if you have a Habitat for Humanity store (ReStore) near you they usually have lots of cupboard doors . You might find something there. Good Luck

Thank You Jean Myles, I live in the UK and the remaining unit doors are quite aged but functional. I think I'll go with the fabric suggestion to add a bit of zing :)

Go to salvage store or thrift store. If they are standard size, you can find replacements. If color is not a match, maybe it is time to paint them all the same color for a face lift and t brighten up the room. I like darker cabinets near the floor and lighter for uppers. Good luck!

Use one for an easily accessible trash can. In The other, you could install vertical wood dividers that would hold cookie tins, large baking pans, etc.

Both Lowes and Home Depot have replacement doors. Habit for Humanity is also a good source.

go on youtube and look at how to make painted area rugs. you can then use the material you like but it will be sturdier and cleanable

You might take off the higher doors that fit and leave the uppers open. Paint them a bright color to show off your dishes ..

It depends on what look you are trying to achieve. I used to design kitchens and can tell you I have had some strange requests. You can hang curtains on tension rods, you can hang window blinds (I've actually seen verticals, bamboo roll-ups), I've also seen the insides finished for open shelving. Replacement doors are available in various materials and price ranges.

Don't forget about vertical storage for cookie sheets, pan and even pots. If you have kits think chalk board paint and/or magnet paint under color. Build your own pull out garbage, open pullouts for pot & pans. If you borrow from upper cabinets what about replacing the upper with glass.

    blinds or curtains

If you don't want to replace them, then you can use fabric drapes. That looks like a very simple door, though. There are no raised panels. Wouldn't it just be easier to replace them or to make your own and paint them to match? Doors like that wouldn't be very expensive.

Home Depot sells cabinet parts. Visit them locally or shop online. Try a search for replacement cabinet doors.

Our local Habitat Restores have many cabinet doors in a wide variety of sizes and styles, and very inexpensive. You might check that out if there is one near you.

A simpler idea might be to make them into open shelving units using decorative jars or vases, in white or bright colors, to fill in the space. Cleaning out my mother's possessions I found she had some eight different tea pots in different areas, so had my handyman remove a couple of cabinet doors above the refrigerator to put them on display.

Use 2 tension rod, one at the top and one at the bottom, and then add curtains.. Its simple, you can change them with the seasons for color o add fun to the holidays !

Cafe curtains would be charming. You can hang them with tension rods.
