Industrial Letters Made Out of Paint Sticks

Monogram letters are classic! They have been a favorite in home decor for years and are not going to go out of fashion any time soon! The problem is when you want to spell out a word, they are just too expensive. These letters combine my love of a rustic and industrial look as well as a nod to my painting profession!
You will want to start collecting some paint sticks. Since I own a paint contracting business I always have them laying around but I still ask for a few every time I go to the Hardware store or paint store.

For a complete list of supplies follow the link below. Supplies will include

Tin Snips, screws, nuts and drill.

Start by laying out the basic shape of your letter.
Using the tin snips cut the paint sticks to make your letter. Then you will want to take sandpaper to smooth the edges.
Lay the letter out and drill holes where the stick intersect.

Drill all the holes first. Before putting the letters together you will want to paint them. I am a big spray paint fan because of the ease of using it and the quick coverage so I spray painted mine but any paint will work.
Once the paint stick pieces are completely dry you can attach them together with screws and nuts. I always make mine with the nuts on the front to give them an industrial look.
Obviously the letters that are straight are the easiest to make. HOME and LOVE are two of the most used words so we decided to use a wreath for the "O". I am totally into mixing textures and metals so using a grapevine wreath in the middle of gold and silver letters is pure perfection to me! Attaching them to an old barn door cut in half is how I roll!

Could you not have glued the pieces on, instead or using screws or nails? I think the letters would look better. This is just my opinion. It is still nice lol Kay Adelaide Australia
