Gold Acorn Specimen Art

5 Materials
This gold acorn specimen art is fun and unique for Fall. As part of your decor, it gives a high end look for less. Using easy to find materials, this project can be made in about an hour of your time.
Acorns, a thrift store frame, spray paint, and hot glue is all you'll need for your project.
Search for a wood frame at a thrift store. Discard the picture and glass inside (or use them for another project sometime). Spray paint your wood frame to match your decor.
Pick a pretty Fall day outside and take a walk, searching for acorns. Gather as many as you want, to fill your frame. If you don't have a place to walk and hunt for acorns, you can also order craft acorns online, they're pretty affordable.
Once you have gathered your acorns, hot glue the tops back onto any that have fallen off.
Next, place your acorns in a box. In a well ventilated area, spray paint them gold.
Let them dry, then roll them a little to expose the sides that didn't get painted, and repeat the process.
Next, hot glue your acorns in rows on a piece of white poster board or foam core board.
It's fun to arrange them from small to large, or even species or type if you have been able to find several different kinds.
The before and after results are easy to see. Display on a fireplace mantel or hang on your wall for Fall.

Love this project. Before painting, place acorns on an old cookie sheet and bake a 250 for about 30 minutes. This will kill any unwanted" critters " (worms and bugs) from ruining your project.
