The holidays are quickly approaching and my favorite thing to do (besides eat) is decorate my table for Thanksgiving with my whole family! I am sick or ruining my beautiful table scape with Costco sized condiment bottles. So this year, I came up with this holiday hack you can't decorate without!
Yeah, look at that big ol' thing. Nothing pairs well with a giant ketchup bottle.
First, I pulled out an empty juice bottle from my recycle bin. After thoroughly washing it, I removed the cap.

I grabbed a tea light and carefully melted the middle of the lid over the flame. Be careful at this step, with your fingers this close to the flame it gets a little tosty. Also, depending on the plastic of your cap, it takes no time at all to melt.
Once the cap was just starting to melt, I took a kabob skewer and pushed a hole through the middle of the cap. By twisting the skewer I created a spout-like shape while the plastic was still warm. Please note, the plastic cools quickly so this step must happen fast.
I decided to decorate my bottle with a little washi tape that coordinated with my table. This step is optional but I think adds a nice touch.
I simply transfered the Costco ketchup into my cute bottle and placed the cap back on.
Now, you are left with an understated bottle that can be reused for all the holidays. Good bye eye sore, hello up-cycle! Not to mention, these look super cute lined up in your fridge. ;)
I also decided to try this project with salad dressing and punctured a larger hole in the top to let the dressing flow more smoothly. This could be a great idea if you celebrate the holidays eating buffet style. Happy Holidays Everyone!

Why not just take the label off and call it a day ?

I've always been in awe of people who know how to can foods safely, but I've steered clear of trying it myself because of all the sterilizing, and fear of unwittingly giving food poisoning to partakers should I make a mistake. The original bottle I'm sure is sterilized in some way to keep the ketsup untainted. I'd be concerned transferring commercially prepared food ingredients to a different container that is not guaranteed sterile, albeit washed quite well. Am I wrong?

What do you put over the top where you make the hole to pour the catsup or dressing? Roz

My momma and mema would say that no bottle of anything should ever be put on the table. If it’s not in a serving dish of some kind, it doesn’t go on the table. Especially a beautifully set table.
