When I found out I was pregnant, I knew I wanted to do a gender neutral nursery. We weren't finding out the gender of the baby (spoiler! I had a girl!) and I didn't want the room to feel 'too' gendered one way or the other. I decided it was a great opportunity to add metallic accents to the basic white window wall - gold is gender neutral right? ;)
Here's how the wall started. See? Basic. White. Blah. My secret weapon? A gold sharpie PAINT PEN! Yes! A paint PEN!

Okay. I also relied quite heavily on a level, ruler, pencil and an eraser - but essentially, this entire project can be completed for the cost of the oil-based pen, which is about $8 at a craft store or online.
While this might seem like a scary project, it really is just about measuring and going for it. I won't go into TOO Much detail on dimensions and such, because your wall is likely not the exact same measurement as my wall - but all I did was create horizontal lines up the ENTIRE wall at a decided interval - 6 inches. This allowed me to get in the most 'lines' between the floor and ceiling and didn't make them too squishy. (I wouldn't do less than 6 inches)

Then from the edge walls, measure 5 inches in on the first horizontal line and then every ten inches from there. Mark those spots with your pencil. Move up one vertical line and measure 10 inches in from the wall and every ten inches from there. Then connect the dots. (I was a teeny bit scared of messing up - but I promise, if you go slowly, it works!)
And here you have it! The finished product! A great compliment in our little girl's nursery :)
Make sure to see the full step-by-step details (like exact measurements and such) in our blog post below and then hop over to see the entire nursery reveal! It's FULL of great DIY ideas!

Love the way your wall came out. Did you do the entire room or just one wall for a focal point? The design you chose is awesome. If one wanted to get really crazy with this design, one could paint some of the diamond shapes in a harlequin(sp) pattern. Great job.

Darling Baby's room! Love the striped sheer curtains. Can you tell me where you purchased them? Thank you!

Way more economic than wall paper and it looks great. Congrats and kudos to the new family addition. I just think of all the fun you will have creating more things to come.
