    If you don't, watch Antiques Roadshow on PBS sometime. They can tell what I am saying is true.

    Looks like the wood is maple. If you don't like the colour of the wood then paint it. What good is it having a piece of furniture you don't enjoy. Paint it whatever colour fits your decor and enjoy. My husband is wood worker so to paint wood is a no no to him. I have lots of walnut, cherry, maple pieces etc. however what good is it if you don't like it. Paint it and enjoy who cares if the value isn't what it could be, enjoying something has value also.
