Need a Taller Solar Light? See How I Added Height to Solar Lights

I was looking for something to add a different look to our fire pit area, and flower pots. I wanted lighting but wanted to add some height to it so the weedeater didn't kill them. (anyone else know how that goes?) :o)

So I picked up some inexpensive solar lights, a can of black spray paint, and while I was in the store went to the craft area and tried diffent sized dowel rods to see which would work with what I had in mind.. the winner was half inch.

I took out the stake that is what is usually used for the solar lights.. didn't need it.

Then I spray painted my dowel rods and simply placed the lights over it.

It gave a lot of height, but you could cut the dowel rods to the height you really want.

Here I used 3 and just cut the dowel rods at different lengths and layered them for a trio of light and it looks so pretty at night.

Suggested materials:
  • Inexpensive solar lights   (Walmart)
  • Dowel Rods (half inch is size I used)   (Walmart, Hobby Lobby, Michaels)
  • Black Spray Paint   (any hardware store should have it)
