Fabric Painted Christmas Tea Towel

I LOVE using fabric paint! And it’s super easy to put together. It’s just two parts paint to one part fabric medium. And that’s it! You can literally make any color fabric paint you want from one bottle of medium. This Christmas tea towel ended up as part of an adorable little DIY hot cocoa kit I put together as a gift idea for friends and family. You can check out how I ended up incorporating it into that kit over on my blog!
For a complete and detailed list of supplies needed for this project, head over to my blog from the link below! You can also find out where to download the SVG file for the design that I chose for this project.
First, mix that paints you are using with fabric medium. I decided to use two different colors for this project and keep it really traditional. You can use whatever colors you want though! It's very versatile.
Next, firmly apply your vinyl stencil to the tea towel. You will want to make sure you press down really well around all the edges of the design so nothing bleeds through under the stencil! Use a spouncer brush to gently dab your paint over the stencil. Don't 'swipe' the brush over the design or it will bleed!
After it has dried for a bit you can remove your stencil and reveal all the Christmas tea towel goodness!
This project was soo easy and quick! I bet you could get quite a few of them done for gifts in no time at all. Make sure you head over to the blog so you can see how I incorporated all these items into a hot cocoa gift basket! You can also find more information on the 'Merry & Bright' mug hanger pictured here as well!

Thanks so much for reading and Happy Holidays!

How did you prepare the towel for paint and did you have to "heat" it after or before washing?
